JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development)

Youth Archery at LC&SA started over 40 years ago in 1978 by lifetime members Gary and Marty Musson as a way to educate local children in the sport of archery. Our program is a USA Archery sanctioned Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program that has an INDOOR and an OUTDOOR season. USA Archery is a nonprofit organization that sponsors National, International and Olympic Teams with a goal of fostering up and coming talent to become future Olympians.  Our program is organized and run by Level 4 and Level 3 certified coaches, with the help and support of a number of dedicated volunteer coaches who love this sport and want to give back to the youth and next generation of future Olympians and World Champions.

Safety is our top priority, closely followed by FUN! Our goal is to provide a safe environment for your child to enjoy the sport of archery. We offer both an Indoor and Outdoor program to LC&SA members and non-members alike. Minimum age to participate is 8 years old, however exceptions may be made for archers that are able to demonstrate a sufficient pre-existing knowledge of archery and the ability to follow directions and behave appropriately.

Archery is an extremely inclusive sport. Should your child have any limitations, please feel free to talk with one of our instructors and we will do our best to accommodate any needs and develop a plan to allow your child to participate.

LC&SA provides all necessary equipment for your youth to shoot our archery program. Although we do recommend that if you have been with us a few seasons, that it may be time to get your own. We can provide recommendations and local shops to give your archer the best start. If you already own your equipment, you are welcome to use it. However, we reserve the right to inspect and reject your equipment to ensure safety to your child and the children around them. We can provide NASP equipment at all shooting times but the specific NASP distances are only offered on the last line (1:30 PM Indoors). We welcome all local NASP shooters to come out and enjoy practicing with other archery loving children.

Please keep in mind that we require an adult to be present at all times while your child is shooting. Please don't just drop and run. Indoor and outdoor shooting sessions last anywhere from 1.5 hours to a maximum of 2 hours. Please make arrangements accordingly.

Dress code is enforced for safety. We request that no open-toed shoes be worn. Avoid loose clothing that can get in the string, and long hair should be tied back. We require all archers in the program to use an arm guard and a finger tab is provided if desired.

FEES

$5.00 per child per session Indoor or Outdoor (discount applies after two kids).

Session Total can be paid by Check (to LC&SA) or Cash on the FIRST day.

All children (Members and Non-members) are charged the shooting fee.

Non-members will be required to acquire a Junior Membership for each child ($15 per child). This is a one-time annual fee that covers the child for indoor and outdoor shooting from December 1 through November 30 (the following year). The Junior Membership is good for all youth activities at the club including firearm programs. This fee can be put towards LC&SA membership should you desire to join the club.
